I'm Running a Half

So, I decided a many weeks ago to sort of start training for a half marathon. I've been logging a lot of miles, and feeling pretty good. Today, I went ahead and signed up. I've been running for years, done several 10k's, and completed a half several years ago. I got the "bug" this summer to do another one, just had to make sure my knees agreed. So, in late October, I'll give it a go. My one stipulation is this. If the temperature is below 30, or if it is snowing, I may have to rethink my decision. I'm a complete wimp when it comes to running in bad weather.

Who knows, if this goes well, I may attempt a full marathon next spring. We shall see.....

LID Day

I was having a grumpy moment the other day. Mike said, "I know a word that will make you smile. It has a lot of "L's" in it."

Just the thought of her keeps me going.....

Fall means Football!

Yesterday, the boys had an awesome football game. I'm so mad that I forgot to charge the battery in my camera. I got this one shot of them walking to the field with Mike. I wasn't completely sure how this season would go, as Peter and Will are on a new team. First of all, they have great coaches. Not crazy, over the top, "we have to win or else" coaches, but "practice hard, play your best, and have fun", coaches. OK, a little bragging here. William plays runningback on offense, right linebacker on defense, and is on the kick return team. He carried the ball for 85 yards, and scored our teams only touchdown. (woohoo!!) He also had 2 sacs, and a fumble recovery. Peter plays tailback on offense, left linebacker on defense and is the team captain on defense. To say Peter loves to tackle would be an understatement. He had a goal line tackle, saving the touchdown, that was worthy of a Sports Illustrated shot! He had a great interception at the end of the game, and a few sacs. Unfortunately, we lost by a missed extra point that would have tied the game.

I love to watch these two play football. I love being a football mom. They are both very dedicated, they study the playbook, and they practice hard during the week. It's not always easy with lots of homework, but they know school comes first. They are have great sportsmenship, and they have fun. We are so proud of them!! Go Bruins!!!

I Actually Went Camping!

I learned these things on our camping trip:

1. It is a lot of work.
2. The twins LOVE to set up camp.
3. Mike likes to play house, and does the cooking.
4. You can never have too many paper towels.
5. William turns in early, after filling up on s'mores. He's up with the sun, fishing.
6. Peter is the campfire comedian. I think he could stay up all night being goofy.
7. There are strange noises at night, and they are not big squirrels!
8. Sleep? What's that?
9. It is really cold in the morning.

I will say that Mike and the boys put in extra special effort to make sure I had fun. And I did. It is just not my favorite thing to do. They love it, and I love that they wanted me to tag along.

Off To School

It has been a crazy few weeks around here. After all the preperations, Tyler is officially a College freshman. Mike and I flew him to California last week, and returned home this past weekend. Too say it was emotional, would be an understatement. I miss him more then I thought possible! The good news is, he loves his school, he has an awesome roommate (who is from Ireland), and he doesn't seem to be too homesick (yet). Saying good-bye, and watching him walk back to his dorm was one of the hardest things I've ever done as a mother. We are so proud of him and his accomplishments. He is so ready for this stage of his life, and his future is going to be a glorious one. We are filled with joy for all that he will experience and the knowledge he will gain. My heart still hurts, but I also feel like the most blessed mother in the world. Being his mom is one of my greatest joys in life. He has blessed our family in ways I cannot describe. His brothers miss him, and have been sending him text messages everyday. My cell phone is never out of reach. We are all getting used to this. I know it is a cliche, but they do grow up so fast. He'll always be my baby, and my love for him is more then the stars in the sky...it is endless and forever.

On a lighter note, Peter has already claimed his bathroom and Will has called dibs on his desk chair!

21 Months

Another monthly "LID-anniversary" has arrived. Twenty-one months feels like a long time to wait for something, or someone. Especially when that someone is in your thoughts every single day. She is in my heart, and a part of my soul. Forever. And so we continue to wait. I think I'm actually getting used to this. I am finding my blessings along the way. And there are so many....my loving husband, who continues on this path with such grace and tenderness, my amazing boys, who delight in the newness of each day, and the wonderful friends I've meet on this journey, whose support and friendship I cherish.

The journey is long, but the blessings are many. My prayers continue, as God knows what is in my heart.
