Vacation Drama

I arrived at the lake 2 days ago. It was great to hug my boys, I missed them so much! Everyone is having fun, doing all the fun things one does on the lake. The house is full of family and friends, and there is never a dull moment!

So, this is what happened yesterday. The kiddos went fishing with their uncles, on another lake. It was to be a really fun day. At about 4:00, I get a call on my cell phone, and it is Peter. He very calmly says, "mom, meet me at the ER. I have a fishing hook stuck in my face."

I didn't believe him! The boys sometimes tease me, because I am a worry wart. But, he was definitely NOT teasing me. We drove the 40 minutes to the ER, and I walk in to see Peter with a BIG barbed fishing hook sticking out of his face, about an inch and a half below his right eye. The room swirled, and I felt sick. The doctor came in numbed the area (with a big needle). Peter was so brave, and actually quite proud of his predicament. The doctor had to push the hook through his flesh, cut the barb off, and then pull the hook out. He said he does this hundreds of times every summer!! Am I the only one who thinks this is a big deal??

Anyway, Peter is just fine. Me, I'm still recovering. The area is bandaged, and he has to stay out of the lake for a week to prevent infection. This however, has not prevented him from having fun. What do you think he is doing today? Fishing!

Ok, so hopefully this was it. Our vacations usually require some sort of drama. I think I've had my fill already! Do you think we can make it three more weeks without anymore trips to the ER? Prayers would be appreciated!

Summer Fun

The boys flew out yesterday for our annual summer vacation: A month on the lake with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. (They get to go a week before us, and Mike and I get to wonder why our house is so quiet!) I have gone every summer since I was 12. Our boys have not missed a year. It is so relaxing and so fun. It is like being at our own family camp. The kids fish (a lot!), water ski, knee board, sail, jet ski, and ride horses. They jump on the floating trampoline and sunbathe on the floating dock. They stay up late to roast marshmellows and watch movies. We drive into "town" for homemade donuts and ice cream. We look forward to this all year! I'll post pictures when I get there!

Finally, reneweed I 171 arrived

After waiting four and a half months, my renewed I 171 arrived. I was starting to get a little worried, as this is our approval from the US Government to bring Lilly home. My agency was great, and kept assuring me all was fine. The good news is that it is dated 6/24/08, and not the date of submission. That puts us good through 12/24/2009. Will this one be the one?? I can't believe that I'm thinking it might not be.

My words of encouragement for the day:

There are many blossoms yet to bloom. Keep believing.

I've Been Tagged

My good friend, Gail (at Aging with Grace, Too) tagged me to come up with a six word memoir. I need to capture my life, RIGHT NOW, in six words. Here they are:

unorganized
busy
relieved
hopeful
faithful
ready

If you'd like, here are the rules. You need to describe your life in six words, link back to me, then tag another five people. Okay, I tag Kim (Journey to Isabella), Jen (Journey to Alexis), Brandi(The Silvers' Scoop), Angie ( A Mother's Place), and Terri (Forever Family). Have fun!
