A Night on the Town

Mike and I are going to the theatre Friday night. Yes, it should be fun. Downtown is very festive right now, and decorated with Christmas lights. After the show, we'll take a horse drawn carriage ride (if it's not too cold). It is fun to cozy up under the wool blanket, sip hot chocolate, take in the sights, and listen to the clip clop of the horse's hooves. We did it one year with the boys and the temperature was in the single digits.....that is too cold!

Peter and Will are not joining us. I wanted them to come with us, but their eighth grade class is going to see the play on December 16th. Plus, they need a good nights sleep.....the big high school entrance exam starts at 8:00 am Saturday morning!

Getting Ready for Christmas

This is what we are doing this weekend...decorating for Christmas. While I'm not quite ready to do the inside of the house, Mike and the boys got a start on putting up the outside lights. It was supposed to snow, but instead we just got cold temperatures. We might brave the crowds and do some shopping, or we might be lazy and watch some football. (The boys would really like us to take them skiing, so maybe we'll do that tomorrow. The mountains are getting snow!) We'll definitely be eating Thanksgiving leftovers. The one thing I will do is buy another Christmas ornament for Lilly.....

Thanksgiving Delights

Just because

In an effort to get out of my funk, I spent an absurd amount of money on this sparkly shirt. I'm not sure it helped, but it is a really cute shirt!


And here are Will and Peter in their football photos. I had to take a picture of the picture in order to post it to my blog, so the quality is not great.

I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving! I'm trying to decide on which to make, pumpkin cheesecake or apple cranberry pie. I'll probably make both.

2 Years

I don't know what to say. I know my friends that read this will know exactly what I am feeling. My heart is slowly breaking. This journey is like nothing I have ever experienced. I want to scream, HOW MUCH LONGER? But there is no answer.


So, we wait. Birthdays and milestones come and go. The seasons change. The months turn into years. Today we are having our first snowfall. It is beautiful. I am grateful for everything in my life. I am surrounded by love.

Can You See It?

The boys really wanted me to post this picture. It was taken with Mike's new Olympus Stylus digital camera. The cool thing about this camera is that it is shockproof (can be dropped from 6 feet), waterproof (can take photos from as much as 33 feet underwater) and is weatherproof (can withstand temps as low as 14 degrees). Perfect for all of their outdoor activities, don't you think? It is small enough to fit in your pocket, and it has a pretty good zoom function for its size. They can't wait to take it skiing with them.

Anyway, the boys tell me this is a picture of a rainbow trout that they caught fishing last weekend, on the Colorado River.

Random Stuff

It feels like this fall has been passing quickly. Here it is November....Halloween is behind us, and soon it will be Thanksgiving. This month is super busy at our house. Peter and Will are in the process of applying to the all boys High school that Tyler attended. They are studying for the entrance exam and working on their applications and essays. Mike and I have to write an essay for each of them. They need teacher recommendations, and they will have to go through an interview. The exam is on December 6th. (geez, could they make this any more stressful?) Besides being a great college prep high school, it is only 5 minutes from my house! I've been commuting to their (and Tyler's) K-8 school for 10 years! We'll have to wait until February 16th to find out if they have been accepted, but I'm very hopeful. They are great kids, and they do well in school. I'll admit I'm biased, but what mom isn't?? Isn't that part of the job? (he he)


Football is over, and they lost their playoff game. It was not a good day. I won't go into details, but Will was injured and had to make a trip to the ER. He is just fine, but it was a little scary, as he had some issues with his vision after a rough morning on the football field. I know they love the sport, but I'll never get used to seeing them at the bottom of a pile, or fly head over heals into the turf. I love to watch them play, but I get extremely nervous. Mike and I are so proud of their commitment and dedication to the sport and their teammates.


Now, we have skiing to look forward to....The boys are so excited and they are really really good skiers. We've had a few snowflakes fall in the mountains, but nothing really significant, yet. We'll be spending five days during Christmas, in Vail. And the best part...Tyler will be home for 3 weeks!!!! yippee!

The photo above is part of our backyard. Looks like Peter and Will have a lot of raking to do. They are eager to do chores...Mike and I bought them new skies and boots, and that was part of the deal!
